A Step By Step Guide To Maintaining A Clean Home

We often forget the difference between cleaning and maintaining; one is the battle, the other is the war.
No matter how well you clean your home, no matter how often you clean your home if you don’t maintain a certain level of cleanliness; you are losing the war.
In this post, I am going to give you a step by step guide, on how to maintain a clean home.
It’s easy to follow and has all the information if you want to win that war!
Step One: When a mess is made don’t “clean it later.”
Maintaining a clean home is very important. Getting ahead of the build-up is a key element of maintaining a clean looking home.
If you or someone in your home makes a mess clean it up right then and there.
It goes for everything and anything, big or small. If your kids throw the pillows on the hardwood floor, pick them up.
If you eat some cookies, and the crumbs make a mess, give it a little sweep.
Getting little things out the way will pay off extremely well in the long run.
Step Two: Clean as you go
Cleaning as you go is a very important step when it comes to maintaining a clean home, especially when it comes to keeping the kitchen clean.
Ever cooked a big family meal, ate it together, and then saw a massive undoable pile of dishes in the sink?
That’s because you didn’t clean as you go. When cooking, a great tip is to wash up pots, pans and plates, as soon as you’re finished with them. When we offer our cleaning services around Chicago, we always tell this to our customers.
It will make the mountain at the end of the day only a molehill, and will keep your home looking clean.
Step Three: Learn to multitask while you are at home
Keeping your home clean and multitasking go hand in hand, and it’s something the whole family can do.
For example, while watching TV when the ad breaks come on, get everyone to help out and quickly tidy up that living room by; straightening up the sofa, getting rid of shoes, wiping away crumbs.
You will notice your living room maintaining a great level of cleanliness because you’ve made cleaning a part of your TV routine.
Adapt this method of cleaning to all the parts of your home and you’ll be maintaining a clean home without even knowing it.
Step Four: A little cleaning every day keeps the dust away
It may sound a little daunting, and you may already be screaming “I don’t have the time for that”, but doing a little bit of cleaning every day, really does help.
Now, that is not to say spring clean your home every day, that’s crazy, but give it 10 to 15 minutes of attention.
I know a lot of us don’t even have 10 to 15 minutes to spare but think about your day for a moment.
When you come home from work, and you stare at your laptop or the TV for an hour, instead you can take 10 to 15 minutes and tidy up your home.
You will still have 45 minutes to watch the TV, and your home will be much cleaner; it’s a win-win situation.
Step Five: Get rid of unnecessary clutter
Sometimes we look around at our home and think that it’s in a horrible state when, in fact, our home is just cluttered.
Everything from junk mail to old shoes makes our house or apartment look a lot messier than it really is.
Designate a space that is out of the way to keep all of your unnecessary goods from cluttering up your home.
I hope this post helped you get on the road to winning the cleaning battles we have with our homes.
The fact is, with a little dedication and thought, maintaining a clean home is quite an easy thing to accomplish.
If you follow the steps above, you’ll notice how simple it is, and you will see a great change in the way your home looks on a daily basis.
