Kitchen Cleaning Tips To Speed Up Cleaning Time

The kitchen is often the dark cloud raining on our cleaning parade.
It lingers in the air, goading you to do your best work; but the only problem is, it’s a tough job to complete.
And more than that, it takes up a lot of your time, the time you just can’t spare on most days.
So, what can you do?
Put it aside, until the filth overflows and it’s time to clean it?
No! Luckily I am here to give you some of my best tips and show you how I clean my kitchen in a matter of minutes.
In this post, I am going to show you how to cut kitchen cleaning corners without sacrificing quality.
What you need to know before we start
- The best and most effective way to speed up cleaning the kitchen is to do a little bit every day.
- Wiping down surfaces and mopping when you have spare time goes a long way.
- Cleaning as you cook will limit the number of dishes you have to clean at the end of the night.
- A deep (top to bottom) clean once a month is vital to keeping your kitchen looking clean and fresh.
Now you have all the information you need; it’s time to clean that kitchen, and clean it fast!
Be prepared
Before you begin cleaning, you need to be prepared at all times.
Keeping spare bin bags, washing up detergent and everything you need to keep your kitchen tidy is a must.
Keep them close, so you can race off and get your kitchen clean in the blink of an eye.
Start with the sink
You might think I am crazy, but the sink is the best place to start.
The sink is the focal point for every kitchen, and at the same time, it’s the first place that gets dirty.
Here’s what some our or pros from Chicago had to say: Make sure you get to it fast and make sure it’s empty and shining when you do this you will already notice a big difference, and it will inspire you to continue.
The dishes
Since the sink is the first target, getting to the dishes is your first step.
If you are lucky enough to have a dishwasher, load it up and move on.
If you do not own a dishwasher, do not worry.
Simply wash all the cutlery first, followed by the cups, and then soak the pots and pans if they need to be soaked, along with the dishes, and continue.
Sweep up
Many people will tell you that wiping down the kitchen tops first is your best bet.
Well, those people are wrong; often when you wipe down your kitchen surfaces, you make more of a mess.
The crumbs from dishes will spill on the floor which will make the mopping take more time than it needs to.
What you need to do is get a hand held broom and dust pan, sweep up the kitchen counters first, and don’t forget the stove.
After you’ve done that, quickly sweep the floor or vacuum, so you can mop it as soon as you need to.
Start on the kitchen tops and tables
Now you are ready to give the kitchen tops a good cleaning.
Spray your all-purpose cleaner on all the surfaces, wait for a minute and wipe them down.
If you don’t have an all-purpose cleaner, a solution of warm soapy water works just as well.
To avoid streaks, wipe down with a clean cloth or towel, and keep a towel by the sink to dry up the dishes you are about to put away.
Doing this means you don’t have to stop and go back a step.
Return to the dishes
Your dishes, pots, and pans have been soaking in warm soapy water for a few minutes.
It may seem like it took up a lot of time but it hasn’t.
You will make up all that time with how easy it is for you to clean the dishes after they have soaked.
Put them back in the plate rack or the cupboard and make sure you dry them as you clean them, this way you avoid the water marks.
Time to mop (the fast way)
Your surfaces are clean; your dishes are clean, dry and packed away, it’s time for the finishing touch.
Before you do, make sure your trash is empty and re-lined.
Now, you can mop your kitchen floor as you would if you were to do a spring clean. However, if you are pressed for time, and if you swept or vacuumed properly (this is important) there is something else you can do.
Simply grab a dry mop and spray it liberally with all-purpose cleaner or a floor cleaner if you have one, and lightly go over your kitchen floor.
You will clean it just as well, and save a lot of time!
