King of Maids Annual Seven-Figure Growth Still Going Strong
Entrepreneurial start-ups come and go, but King of Maids is still going strong after 4 years since its launch in May 2013. In just two years, co-founder and business owner Filip Boksa grew the company to seven figures.
He has since bought out his partner and is focusing on expansion to other major cities in Texas and New York. He also plans to open offices in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. in the near future.
Filip did not initially anticipate King of Maids’ early success but quickly adjusted his strategy for upward growth. “About 12 months into the business, we started thinking about expansion. I was about 20 at the time and I was just learning what multiple revenue streams meant. Once my partner and I started to study marketing more in-depth, we discovered the easiest way for us to generate revenue: replicate what we did in Chicago and open more locations elsewhere.”
During the company’s inception, Filip and his partner researched different booking software platforms to use on the company’s site, kingofmaids.com. After realizing all the other platforms fell short, they decided to build their own maid booking software from the ground up.
Maid service software continues to improve.
BookingKoala is the custom-built online booking platform used by King of Maids. This software features full administrative functions for offices to track sales and gauge customer interest. It includes interactive heat maps and full reports to help scale the company upwards. The platform utilizes Bootstrap 3 for its front-end framework and CSS3 for its layout and design.
BookingKoala’s’ development team works daily to add the latest cutting-edge technologies to the platform. Furthermore, once BookingKoala completes its latest revisions, the platform will be available for commercial purchase. The platform is designed to work for any company within the service industry that will benefit from providing their customers an online suite.
An entrepreneur’s perspective.
Filip spoke at length about the origins of BookingKoala. “The idea lingered for quite some time – even back when I had a partner for King of Maids. At one point, we both thought about making BookingKoala open to the public. However, my partner and I both decided to postpone this plan when we put King of Maids up for sale. Soon after, I decided to buy my partner’s share of the business. The development team that built the software for King of Maids asked to partner on this project. This was when BookingKoala became a standalone software platform.”
An updated software version launched in December 2016 to improve functionality for customers and service providers. In this latest update, customers of King of Maids can fully view their recurring service schedule with the ability to reschedule or cancel a specific appointment online. Service providers can also view customer ratings on past appointments to help them improve their performance.
The latest software update improved King of Maids’ in-house office staff by eliminating the use of a 3rd party vendor. We now utilize one comprehensive system for scheduling one-time, recurring, and special appointments such as heavy duty or post-construction cleanings.
In order to keep up with King of Maids’ service area expansion and commercial use, BookingKoala is working on another round of updates to their software. The expected release date is near the end of 2017. This new version will include a smartphone app for staff, customers, and cleaning service professionals to manage schedules and set new appointments in real time. Customers also have the option to change billing information as well as additional tips to their cleaners through the app or mobile site.
